|Work by Roy Lichtenstein in the distance|
Storm King Art Center is in New Windsor, New York which is in the lower Hudson Valley about an hour and a half (by car) away form New York City. I visited Storm King for the first time last weekend and I absolutely loved it.
The day we decided to go happened to be the most beautiful fall day. The weather was a little cool but great for having a picnic outdoors. The sun was shining bright and the leaves were in their Fall prime. It was really a perfect day. I felt like I was in a beautiful painting of an ideal autumn.
A bit about Storm King
According to their website, Storm King Art Center is a 500 acre sculpture park with over 100 sculptures by acclaimed artists. The landscape is a beautiful mix of hills, meadows, ponds, vistas. and trees. Here is a link to a bit more about the history of Storm King if you're curious.
Below are some photos I took on that beautiful day. I love how the sculptures fit in so well with their surroundings. The art work isn't disrupting the scene instead it's part of it. As you can tell, I have nothing but praise for Storm King. I also just love Fall.
