This past weekend I had friends over for an international potluck! It was suppose to be a picnic, but New York City is having a rainy week. My cohort at Columbia is a nice mix of people from different states, countries, and backgrounds.

I took the typical patelillo/pastelito/empanada (whatever you want to call it) and made it vegetarian and and dairy free. I made a savory version with onion, pepper, mushrooms, and scallions. I also made a sweet version with sliced strawberries and raspberry jam.I'll post a recipe soon!

Other dishes included pesto pasta, Ohio buckeyes, Turkish simit, Belgian beer and chocolate, apple pie, and Hong Kong style egg tarts.
